Jonathan Cecotto will compete in the North American Lamborghini Super Trofeo Championship together with Wayne Taylor Racing - Prestige Performance Racing. The team has won seven titles in the past two years, including last year's Lamborghini North American championship and the World Finals in Imola, Italy.
The championship consists of 6 events, 2 races per event, including world legendary racetracks like Watkins Glen and Laguna Seca. Alongside Jonathan Cecotto, will be the current Lamborghini World Champion Trent Hindman, together they will be competing in the PRO category with the No. 1 car Prestige Performance WTR Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO car. The season will begin in Mid-Ohio the 4-6th May.
“It will be the first time for me racing outside Europe. I’m quite curious and excited, there will be a lot of new things for me to experience. New race tracks, new people, new environment, new culture.
Last year, my first year in the European Lamborghini Super Trofeo series, the expectations became really high during the season, especially when we were leading the championship. Unfortunately, some mistakes and unlucky events cost us winning the title, so I don’t feel satisfied. As a racing driver, you compete to win, but you also have to be realistic. I heard that the competition will be quite tough this year, so I will give my 100% and see what will happen.
From the results the team has achieved over the years, I know they take their work seriously. I couldn’t be happier to race this year with one of the most competitive teams on the grid. Because of this, the expectation is very high, to keep up with the high level of the team.
One of the things that will be new for me this year, will be the US racing circuits. I have never driven on any American race track before. Mid-Ohio looks very interesting from the videos I saw!” - Jonathan Cecotto
